The Role
The work I was given was both stretching and engaging, but there were always people willing to help if I had any problems.
My colleagues were always appreciative of the work I completed, and gave you constructive criticism on how to improve.
At Ernst & Young you get given both a buddy and a counsellor. Both are there to make you internship work for both you and the company.
I had work to do most of the time, and if you weren't given work you could go and ask for more.
As my placement went on I was given more and more responsibility.
The skills I learnt on the internship will be invaluable when moving from university into a business environment. I quickly learnt the skills required to work well in a close professional team.
The Company
The office environment is generally quite relaxed, while maintaining a professional atmosphere. The team I worked in were all friendly and willing to chat about their experiences at the company.
From the induction week right to the end the internship was well organised and well run. There were always people there to help if you had any problems and the socials organised were always good fun.
During the internship there was no official training, but the experience I gained was invaluable.
Subsidised Canteen
I got offered a job at the end of my placement.
The Culture
There were regular drinks with the other interns and a few events organised by the HR team. These events were very good.
I lived at home. The price of socialising was standard London prices, so pretty expensive.
The nightlife consisted of bars and restaurants rather than clubs, but there are some nice pubs around the office.
There were hardly any opportunities to get involved in activities outside work during my placement, but I think this is different if you actually work for the company.
