The Role
The work was very enjoyable and learned more than I coul've hoped for.
Everyone was extremely nice and friendly, I still keep in contact with a few to let them know how I am getting on.
My management were extremely supportive and helpful, as well as providing a good jokey atmosphere.
I always had stuff to do, which kept me interested and occupied.
I was pretty much given the freedom to take my project where I wanted which allowed me to learn a huge range of techniques and skills.
The skills I learnt not only give me an impressive CV, they have given me a massive confidence and ability boost going into my final year lab project and possibly PhD afterwards.
The Company
Everyone is friendly, welcoming and happy to help. Tea breaks were compulsory and day outings were frequent
I had a supervisor, the line manager of my supervisor and my group manager all to turn to for help. The placement itself was very well organised from start to finish.
I was allowed to perform very expensive experiments and a lot of time from other employees was devoted to me throughout the placement. Showing trust and confidence in the students.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
High but never definite. I would still have to go through the application process, but i'm sure a year in industry with them would put me high on the list. Not to mention the contacts I have formed there which remain good friends.
The Culture
There was a lot of social goings on. Especially on the weekend. With most evenings ending on a good note.
Stevenage was not an expensive place.
The leisure park in Stevenage. Enough said.
There were running clubs and sport clubs nearby if you are desperate to join a proper club.
