The Role
There's was a good range of things I was tasked to do which was fit for my ability.
The mechanical team is well mixed with experienced engineers and apprentices who make sure you feel integrated.
The line manager system was good and I was in close contact to those that could help.
I always had work (multiple project tasks at once), and was given work to do rather than waiting to be given more.
I had a lot of responsibility, especially regarding equipment. However I have completed multiple placements before so I am already known by the team.
The tasks I completed apply to real mechanical projects for clients I will be completing when I graduate. It gives context to my studies.
The Company
The discipline teams are friendly and regular socials and staff briefing make the business feel like everyone is important.
I was contacted well in advance for necessary documents, and when I arrived accounts and equipment was ready for me.
There is an annual personal development review (pdr) system for everyone and online training. I was also given experience working on site surveying to learn a new skill with equipment.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
I am sponsored by the company and was offered the chance to continue my studies part-time to work with them.
The Culture
There is a graduate/apprentice forum, and regular social events.
I live 20mins away.
Nightlife is ok.
There are socials and a football team. A lot of the mechanical team also are regular cyclists.
