The Role
I generally enjoyed the work and had a good variety of projects to work on. I found the projects interesting and felt like I was contributing. The working environment was also very good; colleagues were friendly and the office was modern and spacious.
There was a very positive working environment and I felt that my work contributed to the company and that was valued by my colleagues.
At the start of year I received an induction and some training. There was continuous support throughout the year, I was able to speak to colleagues and get there advice when needed. It was often more of a learn on the job approach which I found more useful and interesting that simulated or practice tasks.
I was generally fairly busy, there were a couple of points near the beginning and part way through when I did not have a lot of work but my colleagues and team management helped to find work as soon as possible. I never felt overworked and the hours were always reasonably flexible.
I had increasing responsibility throughout the year and was trusted with leading some tasks and speaking/presenting directly to the client. There was always some oversight from a project/team manager and a QA process so I had the confidence that any major mistakes would be spotted.
I think I developed a lot of valuable skills over the year, particular communication and responsibility from working on projects for a client. I also developed some technical skills, I would have liked to do some CAD/FEA work but there was not an opportunity during my time. I did develop other skills such VBA. I also learnt a lot about the energy industry from the work and from workshops and webinars. I found that I learnt about how projects and relationships with clients work and I believe this will be very useful in the futures.
The Company
There was a positive atmosphere. Generally fairly quiet but everyone I worked with was friendly and approachable and made an effort to help where and when they could. There was a good graduate, apprentice and placement community which organised regular meetings and events.
I felt that I was generally well organised although they seemed slightly under prepared at the start, i.e. there was not any work lined up so I was not very busy for the first few weeks.
I felt there was a good amount of training, particularly at the beginning. A lot of the learning was on-the-job which I thought was the best way of going about it.

Good, there were incentives to return as a graduate which I plan on doing. There seemed to be good opportunities for career progression and development.
The Culture
There was a graduate, apprentice and placement community which organised regular events. There were also events organised by the team and the department (e.g. Christmas and Summer parties)
Reasonable. Bristol was quite expensive for going out but cost of living was what I had expected.
Bristol had a lot to do, with two universities in the city there were a lot of other students and events.
There were some activities organised through the sport and social club as well as plenty of other opportunities around Bristol.
