The Role
Met lots of new people, and was given a wide range of jobs and experiences.
Integrated well with most of colleagues, but as graduate students were mostly away on study, there was a large gap between intern and rest of team. Attended many social events with office.
Regular catchup meetings with a well structured support base, and lots of feedback after every audit which was useful to be able to use whilst still on the placement.
Spent a few days unassigned to any jobs, so sometimes given smaller tasks that were easy completed. However this balanced out with lots of work to do during busier periods when assigned.
Depending on which job, if with a smaller company then was more involved and felt that my work was more valued.
Gained lots of experience and networking, as well as development to people skills, organisation and IT skills and much more.
The Company
Depending on the characters on a particular audit, could be really good fun, but depended really on what the workload was like at a particular time. Everyone was always friendly and positive and approachable, even partners.
Lots of support throughout the internship and induction week/final event were well structured and organised.
As the internship is designed with the prospect of a graduate job as a result, lots of effort was made for the interns and we felt valued.
Company Parties/Events
The internship is designed with graduate job offers in mind, so an excellent opportunity for employment.
The Culture
A good sense of camaraderie between fellow placement students as we all were in the same situation. Went out for drinks/meal with one of my audit teams which was really nice!
Relatively cheap lunches with wide selection. Depended where the audit was taking place, company subsidised canteens or town centre.
Aberdeen has loads of pubs/clubs and restaurants so there is always something going on.
Lots of charity opportunities, as well as sports such as 5-a-side football organised.
