The Role
I truly enjoyed my summer internship in Global Advisory as I felt I was given real responsibility, working on many live interesting projects. We had full support from HR and our buddies within the teams. The team made sure we know what’s expected from us in advance and offered us help and support at any times.
I felt my teammates appreciated my work and were conscious of making the tasks interesting and enjoyable. They were more than happy to help and explain tasks in details. My colleagues were offering feedback on how to improve my skills set throughout the internship and invested time in my progress.
Guidance from management was always available and helpful to deliver excellent results. At the start of the internship the senior colleagues gave a presentation on the key resources to use and approach towards delivering excellent work. When given a new task I was given background and directions on how to complete it in the most efficient way.
During the internship I was working on many interesting projects and was busy throughout the days, which reflected the exciting M&A work environment! My team acknowledged any networking events organised for the summer interns and encouraged my attendance. I enjoyed the work-life balance I had during the internship.
I was given a lot of responsibility and opportunity to add value. I could see the tasks I had completed feeding into the key projects the team was responsible for. People were welcoming my opinions on different tasks and I had freedom to express them. There is great exposure for summer analysts!
I developed strong analytical and time management skills that would be valuable for my degree and any future role in the Finance sector. Being able to prioritise tasks and deliver results in the most efficient way are key skills that I will continue developing throughout my degree. I also enhanced my communication skills, which is something valuable for life.
