The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed going to work everyday.
Working within a sales/account team, I always felt like I was contributing to the team and my colleagues appreciated the value I added.
Verizon management were second to none when it came to support and investment in my personal development.
With the nature of sales, the reactive workload from clients did fluctuate. However if you are proactive, there will always be plenty of tasks to do.
If you show yourself to be ambitious and keen to impress, you will be rewarded with opportunities to take on further responsibility.
I have returned to university a more rounded and confident individual as a result of my experience with Verizon. The training I received has left me with a variety of skills that will be vital in obtaining my degree and moving forward in my career.
The Company
I experienced working in 3 separate offices and the atmosphere was always upbeat and enjoyable.
From the start I was given a set structure with objectives that were reviewed on. 3, 6 and 12 month basis. I had constant interaction with management to monitor my progress during this time.
Verizon offer a multitude of online and classroom training at no extra expense. I thoroughly recommend anyone who does join Verizon on placement to take full advantage of the outstanding training facilities available.

Verizon are highly invested in future talent. It is not uncommon for interns / placement students to return to the company on the graduate scheme.
The Culture
There are regular social events for placement students and graduates, but also for all teams across the business to get together. This provided an excellent opportunity to build my professional network.
Being placed in Reading which is a student town, it is as you would expect. Plenty of accommodation available for reasonable rates and many bars, restaurants and activities in the surrounding areas.
Being a student town, Reading nightlife is great, with many different bars and clubs to suit everyone.
HR regularly advertise opportunities outside of work such as charity and sporting events.
