The Role
Internship was good overall, however I feel that more guidance/orientation could have been given. Was given a meaningful project during my time there.
The team I was in quickly felt like a family, and our daily stand-up meetings helped keep us all motivated and gave a feeling of connection.
Later on in the internship I began to get a bit more in the way of guidance and feedback, however early on I felt as if there was a lack of initial orientation and pointers, which left me drifting a bit during my first month. The experience would have been markedly improved with a bit more input during the crucial early stages.
Work/life balance was very good, and any overtime I spent was entirely out of my own commitment to my project.
I was given a meaningful project developing a tool for use by the rest of the team.
The work I did at Arm was both meaningful, and I think it gave me valuable experience in working on serious software engineering. I'll be taking the skills from the internship to my degree and further.
The Company
The physical office environment could sometimes feel a bit stark or surgical (I personally found the lighting too strong/uniform), but people were generally very friendly and sociable and it was easy to meet people.
(See previous answer re. direction and guidance)
Several intern presentations and lectures were run throughout the internship, as well as intern social events.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
(Not an area of concern for me!)
