About You
I really enjoyed it! I learned a lot about the different departments within Danone and how the company operates. I also enjoyed testing the products, especially the yoghurt.
Even though we were only together for a short time, I felt very valued. I was able to speak my mind and share my ideas in a variety of situations, which was really great.
Not too much, but I think it was good this way. We had a lot of independence during our insight event to really evaluate the working environment for ourselves and network with the other students attending the insights event, as well as those on placement.
I think it was too brief to develop strong skills, but it did get me thinking about skills that would be needed at such a large-scale FMCG business. We were asked to do quite a few group activities though, which really helped our cooperation and communication skills. The information shared was very useful for us in terms of promoting Danone to our universities over the next year. I feel like I can really share what working at Danone is like and what to expect.
The Company
It was well structured, however, I did sometimes feel that we could have done more during our time there. Although I mentioned that I liked the independence given to us, the right degree of guidance would have also been appreciated. It also seemed that we had to wait to start our morning activities sometimes and presentations often didn't take as long as expected, so there were quite a few times where we were told to mingle with one another while waiting for the next activity.
Very positive! The other campus brand managers, placement students, graduates and staff I met were all extremely friendly. I really felt that I could be myself while talking about myself and learning more about others.
As there were quite a few campus brand managers attending and only two placement students really there to guide as, as well as some staff members on occasion, I don't think Danone really invested much in my personal training and development. However, they did invest the whole three days in us as a group of CBMs, which was great.
Very much so! I really got to witness what placement students, graduates and senior managers were doing, which was great. The atmosphere of the staff was also very lively and cheerful, which I liked as it showed what working there truly was like.
It did help me understand quite a bit in terms of its HOPE and CODES behaviours and how important these are within the company. It is really important for employees to show that they can exhibit these behaviours, however, I would have loved to hear more from individual point of view, rather than simply repeating the descriptions we can read on the Danone website.
It was very valuable! I've had the benefit of working with design agencies who specialise in FMCG, so my insights event just confirmed that I'd love to further work in FMCG in my future career.
Everything Else
It took about 5-6 weeks after the insights event was over, but all expenses were covered.
Yes there were! We got to network a lot with the placement students in HR running the event as well as the more senior staff members within that department. We also got to meet plenty of other employees who gave presentations about the different sectors that Danone works in within FMCG, which was very useful. I would have appreciated working more with the employees who gave the presentations for more information and personal insight though.
There were no official networking/social event opportunities, but all of the campus brand managers did manager to go to dinner and have breakfast together each day, which was great in terms of getting to know each other better.
Not very... We focused a lot on the business itself. However, we did learn about the activities available on special occasions within the business park that Danone is located in which is great.
Definitely! It's an extremely valuable experience and I loved every second.
