The Role
Really enjoyed it - fantastic opportunity and the staff went out of their way to include me in everything that was happening
Everyone was incredibly friendly and the girls in the office made a point of inviting me to cinema etc outside of work as well as to eat lunch with them
My intern manager especially was fantastic - no question was ever too stupid, but at the same time he helped to work through to the answers myself.
Not hugely busy - but the office wasn't hugely busy. This did mean that I had enough time to teach myself some of the things I will later need.
I was given enough to feel that it was worth doing, but not so much that it was daunting
Because my placement was in such a specialised field (VAT) I learnt very specific methods etc, but I also learnt a lot about prioritising work etc which is definitely coming in useful for my last year at uni!
The Company
The atmosphere was stressed and quiet at times when there were big deadlines coming up, but cakes etc were always brought in to celebrate the end!
Incredibly well organised. The initial induction was amazing, and it just continued from there
I was given the chance to attend client meetings in London, as well as local meetings and always given time to ask questions about what I had seen afterwards - this was incredibly helpful to understanding the day to day tasks that my colleagues were completing
Company Parties/Events
Was very pleased to be offered a place at the office I did my internship in, as well as my prefered office closer to home
The Culture
But because we all went to the same uni, we pretty much knew each other already
A particularly expensive place to live!
Nightlife was good - but not the same as when there were students in town!
There were the odd events going on, but not a huge lot
