About You
I really enjoyed my summer vacation scheme at the firm
I felt that a lot of effort was put into organising the vacation scheme, and this made me feel valued while I was at the firm.
My supervisors, even when they were busy, made sure that I was getting work, and that I got the opportunity to meet a lot of people.
I don't think that the skills I developed and information I received will assist me in my degree, but beyond that, I think they will be useful for my career as a commercial lawyer.
The Company
The vacation scheme was very well structured - we were given schedules at the start of the scheme, and the social activities and presentations organised for us fit well within our work schedules.
Everyone was very friendly, and went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and welcomed.
I don't think that there was any specific focus on our personal training and development, but there were lots of opportunities to meet, hear from and speak to people at the firm, from trainees to the managing partner.
I think that the vacation scheme provided a realistic insight into what it would be like to work as a trainee at the firm.
I think because the vacation scheme provided a realistic insight into what it would be like to work at the firm, I think that I got a real sense of the firm's culture.
The realistic insight I gained from the scheme helped confirm that commercial law was the career path which I would like to take.
Everything Else
All of the social activities we had involved employees of the firm, from trainees to partners.
The networking opportunities were great, but the social activities could have been better organised, as this would have enabled the vacation schemers to get to know one another very well.
Yes, we got an opportunity to attend a networks fair, during which we spoke to representatives from different networks within the firm such as the Women's, Multicultural, Social and the Ability networks. We also attended a presentation on the firm's pro-bono work as well as prepared and presented our own pro-bono project.
Yes, I would definitely recommend taking part in this vacation scheme
