The Role
I loved working at Adobe and couldn't imagine a better placement year. My year within the Marketing department was dynamic and allowed me to explore my creative side. My 12 months at Adobe helped me to understand the technology industry and experience in-house marketing after my previous agency experience. I encourage everyone to apply.
I felt like a valued and important member of the team from day one and felt constantly supported throughout the year. The team was constantly growing and everyone was welcomed with open arms. As the only intern within the Marketing team I never felt out of place within the team and was always treated as an equal.
My managers at Adobe were amazing and really had my best interests at heart. They were there to offer me guidance and lend a helping hand whenever I needed it. I had weekly catch ups with my manager to track my workload and progress, within these meeting I was able to discuss any issues I had openly and without consequence.
My workload differed massively during my time at Adobe depending on the season and events planned within the quarter. During my second week I was working and staying in London all week at a design festival, these long hours were hard to adjust to at first, having gone from 11am lie ins as a student to 12 hour days working in London. However soon the events became my favourite part of the role and I would love attending and networking with industry professionals. Sometimes I did have quiet periods but I could always find work to fill the time.
During my placement I was given a lot of responsibility at events and within the office. This helped me expand my knowledge and understand the event planning process fully. I was never given work or responsibility I wasn’t comfortable with and my manager was always nearby if I had queries or issues with a task.
During my time at Adobe I decided to take advantage of the software I was marketing and develop my skills on the Adobe tools, I was able to do this easily during work and utilised these skills at events and will take this with me for my final year at university. I learnt many other skills at Adobe that will be used in my later working life and during my remaining time at university.
The Company
The office was based within the centre in Maidenhead and housed around 250 staff. It was open plan and modern. In the Marketing department everyone is friendly and the workplace environment is enjoyable. I would eat with my team daily , and although there is no canteen in the office there are kitchen facilities and many places to grab lunch from.
The Marketing placement at Adobe is well established and well organised. My roles and responsibilities were set out to me at the beginning of the placement during my two week handover with the past placement student. This period was of great help and set up my whole experience. Although there is structure to the placement it can be tailored to each individual based on their interests and passions.
I was given many opportunities for personal development and attended my creative conferences that inspired me to continue in the field. I attended Marketing EMEA team meetings and where we discussed business goals and personal development. I membership to Lynda.com also helped me improve my personal development and take courses I was interested in.

There are many opportunities at Adobe for future employment that could be pursued if interested. Everyone within the team is willing and happy to help people out with career development.
The Culture
As the only intern within the Marketing team I had good social relationships with my team. I didn't tend to mix with the sales interns due to getting on with my own team so well, however I believe there are about 10 interns within Adobe Maidenhead so there are social opportunities. I was at events often were I would work and socialise with my team, we would also occasionally go out for dinner.
Although my placement was in Maidenhead I decided to live in Reading as there is more of a social scene and nightlife there. I decided to live with university students which made living more affordable and exciting. I drove to work daily which could take between 25-45 minutes depending on traffic. You can also get the train from Reading to Maidenhead in 15 minutes and then walk to the office from the station in 10 minutes.
In Maidenhead there is little to no nightlife hence my decision to live in Reading. However in Reading there is lots to do to keep you occupied. Also it's only a short 30 minute train into London Paddington, so going to London for the evening can be entertaining and very doable.
There are some opportunities to get involved with after work and various corporate social responsibility schemes you can get involved in. There is also a boot camp that runs for staff during lunch time at work for any fitness enthusiasts. Other opportunities are available to people if interested and people at Adobe tend to be fairly social.
