The Role
I found my placement very enjoyable and inspiring.
My colleagues are grateful for my input and ask for my opinions regularly.
I was always offered support when I asked for it. My supervisor was very helpful in providing different experiences within the company.
After settling in initially, I became busy on most days with work to meet deadlines and frequent training.
I was required to verify the work of others in the group regularly before it could be submitted, however due to the nature of the department I could not gain authorisation to complete most responsible tasks myself.
I have learnt a lot about an area of my degree that I intend to develop further and I think my experience will give me an advantage in my early career.
The Company
Positive friendly atmosphere. My colleagues worked well to each other's strengths and were very welcoming and accommodating when I first started.
The placement was well organised as I was able to gain exposure to a variety of aspects and I was able to visit other departments throughout the year.
I was encouraged to go on training courses and networking events by my supervisor and manager.
There are many options available to develop within the company and the Grad scheme would be a very good opportunity to advance my career.
The Culture
There were some infrequent social events but there were not many other placement students to meet with at my location.
Low cost of living.
Very little night-life in the immediate area but there was more going on in some neighbouring cities.
There were a few events outside of work but not many.
