The Role
I enjoyed it a lot as I met all kinds of people who taught me many things about the industry and the company, and I also enjoyed the fun activities I was fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to participate in.
My supervisors in particular treated me like I was part of the company and when I asked for more work, they gave me more things to do. I was not as close, however, with my other colleagues in my floor, who perhaps sat on a row or two in front of me.
My supervisors were supportive especially when I wanted to network and learn more about other parts of the bank. They also encouraged me to learn an important skill (coding) which I think is essential in jobs in the future
I was given about 20 names every week to research, which I thought was enough as it gave me time to still work on the various projects we had and it still allowed me time to network with people.
I was given more responsibility especially for the group projects we had to do because it's a team effort. My supervisors entrusted me with providing them information and cold emails for potential clients and I appreciated it when they asked me for new angles they could take on HNWI.
I am now looking forward to doing more coding for my degree (Mathematics). The excel and outlook skills I learnt will also be useful in most, if not all the jobs that I am currently considering.
The Company
Wealth Management is probably one of the least stressed floors. I like how there is a time for people to do work but it's not too quiet that you feel bored or you become worried if it's alright for you to even utter a word. I like how there are snacks for people to share and you don't get judged for taking a coffee/toilet break. I also like how I can interact with the people in my time or at least in my row as they were very friendly to me.
It was quite organised however there were some mistakes on my work calendar and on the booklet we were given. At least we were informed in advance about the various events.
The firm helped all of us develop Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills which have become essential in the work place. The advice given to me by senior executives and directors also helped me see things in a different perspective and made me want to strive harder. For these reasons, I think the company has invested quite a bit on us.

Company Parties/Events
I really like the culture of RBC and how they operate. I also like how their presence is greater in Canada compared to the UK. I enjoyed my co workers and supervisors, hence I am very interested in applying for a job within the firm.
The Culture
We organised socials within us on Fridays and though I participated in some, there were others who didn't participate in our after work outings. Moreover, there was a closed Whatsapp group chat in which majority of the Year 1s were not a part of, however I think this made year 1 students closer to each other.
London is expensive. At least company subsidies made having lunch slightly cheaper (by £1.12)
Lots of pubs nearby and clubs to enjoy the night after a long day at work.
The company were at the time planning a Race for Kids charity event which we were encouraged to participate in. Also they had inclusive groups within the company which one could be a part of. RBC also get involved with the community so they have opportunities to volunteer or they sponsor places such as The Old Vic Theatre
