The Role
The Summer Internship was generally enjoyable. When things were good, they were really good - but there were low points which should be expected in this line of work. For me, the environment, the pace and the subject matter were stimulating and put me in a challenging sphere which I got a lot from.
I did feel valued but only to the extent that a Summer Intern in any situation can. I was aware that the team were very busy and that teaching me new skills was a drain on their resources. As I worked to improve my output I did feel that there were moments where my insight had made a genuine impact and that he team recognised this - but generally, I felt that I was valued as a future prospect rather than a member of the team then and there.
Despite the team being very busy during my time with them, I was offered ample development opportunities. Whenever I asked and pushed for time with members of the team, this was given. Sometimes meetings could not happen but overall guidance was given adequately.
I had a steady pipeline of work, along with opportunities to drive my own learning throughout the summer. Sometimes I felt that this pipeline had trailed off too much, and sometimes I was extremely busy - but overall the pipeline was appropriate and facilitated my learning well.
I wasn't given as much responsibility as I would have liked on the internship, however this is down to a number of variables, such as the projects which the team were working on at the time, how busy they were, and the nature of the work itself. I felt I was given as much responsibility as I could have reasonably asked for given the circumstances.
The internship has equipped me with invaluable skills which I have already started to apply to my degree and other aspects of my life. I would recommend this internship to anyone who is interested in being pushed and challenged, and to anyone who wants to spend their summer enhancing their own catalogue of traits.
The Company
Given the work ethic of the employees and high pressured nature of the work with which they are occupied, the atmosphere was surprisingly enjoyable. I got on well with everyone in the office and I felt I could be myself as long as I worked hard and took my work seriously.
The overall internship was set up well, despite some lags in how seamless the experience was due to being in a regional office. Overall many events were held to try and enhance the experience of Interns, and my pipeline was gradually expanding by the team.

I have been offered a position with this firm following graduation. I look forward to joining and working with the team, and I would recommend the Internship to anyone who is serious about working hard and learning a lot. It is a great environment to do it in, with interesting and intelligent people.
The Culture
The people who I Interned with were always up for socialising and building stronger bonds. We went out several times, which served as a good opportunity to let out steam and relax from the stressed of the Internship. I really enjoyed getting to know my cohort.
