The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, feeling part of a team working towards and end goal was very rewarding.
I felt totally valued by my colleagues knowing that the came to me for support when I knew the specific domain knowledge that they didn't know made me feel very valued. As well as asking for my support on a certain task,.including co teaching a code academy course.
I was supported by my supervisor speaking daily in Standups as well as frequent meetings where we evaluated my progress.
it was down to us to decide our own deadlines with features as such we dictated the busyness however there is always work to do in terms of refactoring and adding new test cases.
As previously mentioned I was given equivalent responsibilities as my other colleagues who were full time employees meaning that I worked on a similar feature they could have been worked on by them.
Both technically and verbally I have grown vastly. Understanding and watching how different colleagues interact with higher and similar levels of professionalism, I tried to adapt my verbal communication to match this too. Technically I gained a vast amount of skills in varying languages and tools that previously i used very little.
The Company
Atmosphere is key for me, and it is amazing. There's always something fun going on whether it be an organised event or just playing table tennis to playing FIFA on the Xbox consoles we have. There's always stuff to do to get away from work and clear your mind.
It was incredible well set up, with lunchtime talks and events as well as intern drinking events and group exercises it was great fun and always felt supported.
They invested greatly having the support and want from higher executives for everyone to learn really helped the ethos of learning which is great. They invested a lot of time to ensure that I understood every aspect.

The Culture
Absolutely there were loads of opportunities to get drunk.
A pint cost under a £5 but not too much cheaper. Definitely a difference than the student union.
Didn't really go to many clubs but there's many bars around.
There are loads of activities to get involved in it's just finding those groups.
