The Role
I really enjoyed the amount of responsibilty I was give, I did not feel I was treated as the student at all.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, I was treated as an equal member of the team and felt my input was appreciated by others.
I met with my manager weekly to discuss my work load, any issues I had and particular areas I wanted to explore.
If I did not have enough work I would ask my supervisors for more.
I was given specific tasks for the study I was working on, these tasks were my own, I knew who I could turn to if I had any issues but it was my responsibility to complete them.
You learn things whilst working that are not possible to learn from university. Some skills were specific to my job role but many were skills I will utilise in any area of life.
The Company
Within my team we were very socialable but the office as a whole was not as much.
As we were the first students for my manager there were certain procedures she did not know about until we told her, when we learnt it from other students.
I was givent the opportunity to attend many training sessions
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Whilst on my placement I was able to apply for a fast track process which allowed me to enter the graduate scheme application process at the telephone interview stage.
The Culture
We made friends with some students from another site and met up with them for drinks after work.
As I was living near London there were London prices
The nightlife very close to me wasn't good but we were only 20minutes train ride away from Paddington and the nightlife in London was great.
I took part in the JP Morgan Corporate Chase.
