The Role
I felt like my work really mattered and I was able to see all aspects of a job there
I was often asked my opinion and people would listen to what I had to say.
y manager was very busy but if I had a problem he would make time for me. For general technical and day to day questions I had plenty of people I could turn to.
I had a mix of longer term projects and day to day activities. Sometimes something would take priority at short notice but would always have something to do.
I was in charge of my own bodies of work and projects, all of which were necessary.
The skills I developed will definitely help me in my future job.
The Company
The office was generally very quiet, but if you had a problem or a question people were happy to help. Often there would be people popping in and out which could be a distraction.
It was very much self-driven and not prescribed, you were put into a role which the site required at the time.
There was a lot of training in terms of ways of working and good practice which were required by everyone on site. I was also able to go on a few professional training courses but that was when they were in house and happened to be running, My manager would look out for personal development opportunities for when they were outside of my scope of work and would put my name forward.

They are reasonable, there are some changes going on within the business but overall there are still many opportunities within the UK and further afield.
The Culture
There weren't many placement students so while we were good friend and did meet up regularly, it was a bit hit and miss if people were busy .
Cost of living was good however there wasn't an amazing nightlife or particularly much to do locally. Major cities were about 40 mins on the train.
The local bar had very good discounts for staff, however beyond that there weren't many places, unless you went further a field.
There were a couple of groups organised by employees and there were things to do locally (gym, swimming pool, golf and outdoor activities mainly).
