The Role
Overall, a great experience. I had lots of opportunities to shape the role to what I wanted to do over and above the mandatory tasks. MK was not nightlife central but London is not far away and I would encourage future undergraduates to take better advantage of London then I did. A return ticket is £13 with a railcard and includes all tube travel.
I'm not the best person to ask as there were particular circumstances surrounding my placement - I did not have a line manager due to sickness absence for the majority of my placement. This meant that my colleagues were mostly focused on their own roles rather than functioning as a team which was frustrating at times. I've heard from others that most managers are very supportive.
I had to seek this out from other mentors and individuals due to my manager being off. Fortunately most people are very approachable and HR allocate you a graduate as a mentor which you should make sure to take full advantage of if you get a placement with VWG. The grads are really friendly and I found give great advice.
I was very busy throughout my placement - covering absence meant I was entrusted with big decisions which was a good learning experience.
My judgement was trusted by my team and my work and recommendations were used in making a number of big strategic decisions for the department.
Doing a placement such as this one is invaluable. The good thing about doing it at VWG is that its actually enjoyable as well as giving you a big advantage over other students come job hunting time. The skills and experiences you will learn from will make transitioning into a full time permanent job after uni far easier.
The Company
Most people fantastic, made some good friends.
I found the whole experience to be very smooth.
As much training as you want so long as line manager approves. Good courses covering everything from decision making to excel skills.

Excellent. There are opportunities for fast track to grad scheme.
The Culture
Everyone was friendly and we had several good nights out in MK. Though we didn't have a big night in London which I think was a missed opportunity.
Housing is relatively expensive. Socialising not too expensive. Every chain restaurant ever is in the MK shopping centre.
Nightlife in MK has been covered by many reviews. Not great but I still had a few fun nights out so just make the most of it. You can get a 3am train from London to MK on a Saturday Morning.
There was football every week organised by the undergrads.
