The Role
Adobe - Make it an Experience! My placement was exactly making an experience! Adobe lived up to their core values and really cares about your development and career opportunities.
My immediate team was amazing, they treated me as a colleague and often forget that I am a student. They regularly gave me feedback and to voice my opinion. My colleagues surrounding me was very kind and caring, where they regularly gave me tips and advise.
Being an intern, I had perceptions of my manager being very busy but she put in so much time and effort in helping me create a development plan. My manager and supervisor both gave me support and guidance through my day to day jobs and our weekly meetings.
I had many responsibility, everyday is a new day with many tasks to complete. During my placement, we had a working rota, based on who was covering the email in order to hit KPI's and targets. Being a Generalist, it was vital that we responsively answer our internal customers’ questions in a timely manner. Along side with supporting Adobe' internal customer, I was also focused on projects and planning/preparing for appointed meetings.
I took responsibility and accountability in my day to day job role. 70% of my time was involved in working on the customer management tool (TRAX). Here, I was a generalist and a first point of contact for all Employee Experience related queries. The other 30% of the time, I was accountable for my projects, including onboarding new hires across EMEA and driving team meetings.
The experience I have gained this year has taught me, that I enjoy being in a 9-5 environment, it has also confirmed that I would like to work as a HR generalists and to be like my manager. Personally, I feel that I now have more knowledge and this could ultimately help me during my final year. I feel that I can confidently pull many examples around practices and how this relate to theories learnt in university.
The Company
Monday morning was always busy, with sales people coming to do meetings in the EMEA HQ. This is great way to network around the office and getting to know other colleagues in different departments. Towards the end of the week it's more quiet, which gives you a chance to catch up on projects.
As I was the first HR intern, I had a great start with a well planned diary for the first week. A lot of resources was available for me and I was able to set up one to one meetings with my colleagues to understand more about the company.
I was able to put together a development plan where my manager looked into this with me, especially in the area I liked to focus on. The company has learning development tools at our finger tips such as Harvard Management Mentor, Lynda.com etc. I thought these resources was excellent and came into great use.

It isn't common for interns to come back and work for this company but it has happened and is always a possibility. However, I am looking forward to come back to join the company!
The Culture
Other interns and graduates were very welcoming. We had regular lunches and drinks after work.
The salary reflected the cost of living and socialising. I stayed fairly close to the office for convince but many people commute from Reading and London.
Not much in Maidenhead. However it is a 20 mins train ride to Reading and 30/40 mins to London.
Yes. There was regular learning to work volunteering events - going to local high school and helping year 8's - year 11's developing their skill sets. Also, a lot of opportunities to get involved through the Corporate Social Responsibility.
