    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very interactive and dynamic workplace. The projects that I was involved in were challenging and I really felt like I was contributing to the business as a whole.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was welcomed instantly and integrated into the team so quickly. They were treating me like I was more than just an intern, and listened to any points I may have had.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They were very approachable with regards to queries I had and were very attentive when helping me through an issue. They also gave me the chance to develop skills on my own and gave me a fair amount of creative licence on my projects.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was kept busy with not only my projects, but also the charity events and networking opportunities to ensure I was learning throughout my entire time there.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the chance to really prove myself and make valuable contributions to the business as a whole, whether it was participating in meetings or introducing new procedures and ideas in the branch.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I picked up are easily transferable because they mainly helped me organise and prioritise my workload, network with a range of different stakeholders and improve man-management.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Extremely friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the office. Thoroughly enjoyed coming to work, knowing I would learn a great deal but also enjoy the company of the team I was in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Definitely kept busy from start to finish and the charity work certainly adds to this. Plenty of activities, work-related or otherwise to not only give me a well-rounded working experience, but also a fun one. It is a programme structured in a way that really gets the most out of you.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of the skills I picked up were during the working day, but there are also external days in which I learned about the company’s core values and how to work within them. This taught me how to adjust what I was previously doing in order to ensure I was working in total cohesion with the bank.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It is the perfect place for one to develop their skills, but also a solid work ethic. It is an employer that will provide the opportunity for an employee to push themselves and progress, as long as the drive is there.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social aspect of the role was exciting and it gave me a fantastic opportunity to meet a great group of people. I am still friends with many of them and look forward to seeing them again

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Central London is always going to be an expensive area to live and work, although it is an exciting place to have a career. I was lucky to be in student accommodation. Most of my colleagues live outside of London and travel in, which made socialising with my team outisde of office hours very difficult.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very good nightlife but expensive.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The charity fundraisers provided an excellent opportunity for my colleagues and I to meet up, with a range of activities set up by the various groups of interns. In particular, the pub quizzes, raffle and football were very good.
