  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Good, varied work although long hours.

  • Settled in well, was welcomed and supported

  • Was assigned a buddy who I worked alongside for the duration of the placement

  • Had a good balance of work, although there were a few times where there wasn't much to do

  • Was given increased responsibility throughout the placement, including being assigned sections of the site

  • The skills I gained were not particularly applicable to my degree, but they were good skills for general development

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally a good atmosphere in the office, although there were times when tempers frayed

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well organised with good support from HR, unfortunately my placement was earlier than the others run by Costain, so I didn't recieve some of the information in time

  • Due to having a short placement, I did not attend any training days or courses, although Costain do send employees onto them

  • Good prospects working in a large-scale national engineering company

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Few opportunities for socialising outside work as most colleagues commuted some distance to work

  • Relatively cheap area but still within London so generally higher costs

  • Relatively poor
