The Role
I had an incredible time in the Presales team at SAP. I learnt a phenomenal amount, developed new and existing skills and made countless connections inside and outside SAP. We had structured support but at the same time were given the opportunity to focus large amounts of our time where we wished.
The intern team at SAP is an integral part of the company and we were made to feel like that from day one. There is a great drive towards developing your skills in your chosen sector as well as gaining knowledge in the wider company.
I had biweekly meetings with my mentor who is recently out of the Presales academy, having completed a placement 3 years before. This meant she had an insight into the variety of my role and the opportunities I could take. I had monthly meetings with my manger as well in order to track my progress towards my goals.
Being in Presales I was given a wide range of tasks, from video creation to report building. This could have taken up all my working time but my manager encouraged me to get involved in a solution in order to get out on client projects. Balancing my chosen solution, SAP Analytics, along with Design Thinking Workshops, running the Experience Centre and my compulsory work required a lot of time management but was immensely rewarding.
Along with 2 other interns I was in charge of the maintaining the Experience Centre for SAP UKI. This involved organising the centre and the sales teams for customer visits most days. This gave me access to the front end of the sales process and an opportunity to network internally and externally.
My soft skills such as public speaking, presenting and time management improved dramatically. I also learnt a huge amount about software solutions and business intelligence and analytics teams in companies.

The Culture
There were 45 interns so lots of opportunity to meet people and have a good time.
I lived at home but for others living in Richmond and Twickenham was pricey but cheaper than central London.
Thursdays were option to have a night out bar hopping in Richmond. For larger nights on Thursday or Friday we took a train in central.
There is a football club on Wednesdays and lots of charity projects to get involved in.
