The Role
I learnt a lot about my business area (Commercial Banking Finance) and was welcomed, respected and valued by my team.
My colleagues ensured I was made to feel like part of the team and my opinion was valued.
I always had people to go to with questions or queries, and they readily answered any questions
I was largely busy 9-5 every day, being given a large chunk of my own meaningful work to carry out daily.
My team trusted the work I carried out and allowed me to contact all business areas myself.
Received training in Microsoft Excel, various ledger tools, office place etiquette etc.
The Company
Whilst everyone had a lot of work to do, there was a relaxed atmosphere in the office and everyone was friendly and welcoming.
Often line managers were not given enough instructions on how to manage us. Whilst I was lucky, some other interns had no programs installed on their machines and there line managers hardly gave them any work. Due to the lack of instruction line managers are given, your experience will largely depend on how much your line manager or team is willing to do
My team spent a lot of time developing me and my abilities
Lots of possibility to move within the grad scheme and afterwards.
The Culture
Yes, Lloyds ensured we all got to know each other and kept giving us challenges where we met with other interns. We were all acommodated in the same block in London.
Expensive (as London) but accomodation was provided my Lloyds
