The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience, during my time I was exposed to plenty of variety within the business.
Colleagues were welcoming and invited me to meetings to help increase my understanding and to experience their day to day tasks. You were actively encouraged to ask questions and for opinions on situations.
Plenty of support through line manager, buddy and HR team
Varied between interns depending on tasks/projects which were set. Encouraged to set up meetings with various colleagues from other teams to gain a clearer overall understanding of the business.
Given a project that required me to independently obtain the information and present in a style most suitable. Weekly catch ups with buddy/line manager for direction however was mainly under my control.
General work place skills, presentation and increased in confidence as well as developed a basic understanding of the way in which banks work and current challenges.
The Company
Open plan with managers at tops of desks but everyone was welcoming and friendly.
Very well structured program, week training to begin with lunch and learns through out. There was also an evening speaker series and some 'fun' activities too.
They invested time in ensuring I understood initially the business and the culture. During the internship my team ensured I was actively involved with opportunities to attend client meetings.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Considerably enjoyed the internship more than my year placement elsewhere. Good culture, global footprint with plenty of opportunities.
The Culture
7 interns in my department with 110 in total. Spent initial week training together and then social opportunities throughout the program.
Lived at home, commute cheaper than expected. Bars and restaurants literally outside the office but London prices as expected.
Went out a couple of times with the interns over the period but more generally drinks than clubbing.
There were sports and societies to get involved with however I didn't have much of an interest over the summer period
