The Role
I really enjoyed my placement year, Adobe is a great company to work for, and in comparison to a lot of my mates placements, i had a far more positive outlook.
I was doing the same job as the graduates in the role, so it was a level playing field, they valued me as much as a full time graduate, in fact the newer graduates would often come to me or the other interns for help at times.
I was given great support by my line manager, and if i ever had an issue she would be more than happy to help at a moment's notice, it was a really great relationship we had.
It went through peaks and troughs, somedays would be crazy busy and some less so, but i was never bored, and if anything it was more due to poor planning of my time on my part that caused the issues.
As I said previously, I was doing the same job as a graduate, so I had just as much responsibility as they did, we had targets to hit as interns and we were accountable for them and our success was measured against them.
My placement year cemented the idea that i wanted to work in sales, the skills i learnt will therefore be greatly beneficial when applying for grad jobs in the future.
The Company
Being in sales the atmosphere was quite cyclical, towards the end of the quarter it was a lot more intense, everyone focussed on hitting their targets and bringing in last minute deals, but then at the start of the quarter the atmosphere was far more chilled. On a whole it was a great office to work in with an awesome atmosphere.
The placement was relatively well organised, we knew exactly what department we were going to be based in and with what products we would be working with when we started, we got given adequate training at first and were made aware of all opportunities we could get involved in company wide.
We were given training on all the products we would be working with when we started, we had bi-weekly meetings with our manager as well where we would talk about not only how our work is going but areas we wanted to develop and how we could go about doing that.

I would jump at the opportunity to go back and work for Adobe once I have graduated, I have learnt invaluable lessons and it's an incredible company to work for. One of the largest and fastest growing tech companies globally.
The Culture
There was only 4 interns who worked in the sales cycle, but we all got on really well and would go for drinks together, go out on a weekend, play football together, we spent a lot of time outside of work together.
I was based just outside of London, so it was more expensive than at University (Loughborough) but it was a lot cheaper than living in London but with a 30 minute train into the capital it gave the option to head in after work or on the weekend.
The nightlife in Maidenhead itself was dead, there was one club which was closed for half my internship, but you're only 15-20 minutes away from Reading which is a university town with loads of clubs, and only 30 minutes from London.
We played football once a week with the rest of the team, we'd often go for drinks after work as well and a group of us would go to the gym together after work each day. Other than this there weren't many opportunities available but if there's something you're interested in then it's easy to get a group of people and set something up yourself
