The Role
The internship was not only stress-free but I was actually given meaningful work.
Many of my colleagues had started in EY through an internship program so they were as helpful as possible in every aspect.
Not question was left unanswered and I had regular meetings with my supervisor. I also had a partner-shadowing day which was priceless.
I wasn't overloaded by any means, and as long as I wanted to find work there was always something for me to do.
Much more than I actually expected, I was even given a whole part of an audit to complete by myself. Of course, all of my work (as well as everybody else's work) is double and triple checked by superiors.
I now feel much more confident into going into a professional environment once I leave my university.
The Company
Despite most people were very young, they were all absorbed by their work so the atmosphere in the office itself was rarely fun.
Everything was top-notch in terms of organisation and timing.
There was a whole induction week at the beginning of the internship, as well as web-based learning and individual sessions concerning the software we worked with.
Working from home
I actually got a job which is the case for all of the other interns I met.
The Culture
Yes, drinks after work and nice conversations were regular.
Edinburgh is an expensive city. Comparable to London.
Edinburgh is not a place where you will be bored as long as you get yourself out there. And the Edinburgh summer festival is amazing.
CSR events were abundant.
