The Role
It wasn't what I was expecting due to a change in circumstances in the company which was slightly disappointing but was still a valid experience
They integrated me well into the team and always felt a part of it- including being involved in team meetings and seminars they attended
There was always support for issues and problems I had and they were always friendly enough to ask
Due to the type of work I did it depended on when the samples came in so I had little control over this
I was given an assay that any other employee would have been given to run and was a valued member of the team
Due to the specific nature of the job not many of the skills were transferable- but did give me a good insight into the working world
The Company
Was quite and work focused- but it was open plan so you could easily ask for help from others
Due to change in circumstances I ended up doing the partial job of someone who was made redundant instead of doing my project which is what I had applied to do- doing the project would have been more useful to my further studies. Although the job I was doing was important I did feel like it was not set up in the correct way.
There was training courses that we attended and seminars that we went too which furthered our knowledge
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I don't think this is a field of work I would go into- no job security at the moment.
The Culture
There was a large body of students in the local area and the right amount of bars and clubs for us all to be happy
Close enough to London for a night out- and was really cheap to get around Stevenage itself
Having lived in London obviously not going to quite live up to that- but was adequate
I joined hockey club outside of work and there were many other opportunities
