The Role
Early starts were difficult at first but the actual work far overwhelmed this and was very rewarding.
My opinions were taken on board and my enthusiasm earnt myself respect in meetings from both management and shop floor employees.
My supervisers were always more than happy to help and I felt they actively sort to aid my progress.
Generally the work load was healthy, and there were tasks I could be completing beyond the boundaries of my main project. Very occasionally however, due to the high workload of colleagues, there were instances where I felt I had little to be doing.
I was given project goals and had regular catch up sessions with my managers. Beyond that, however, it was very much my responsibility to manage my own time and seek out information I needed. Recommendations I made were implemented making my presence feel valued.
Due to my degree not being directly related to the role I was undertaking there has been little that I can directly use back at university. However, the skills I have learnt will prove invaluable when I return to a work environment post-universtity.
The Company
A very good atmosphere both in the office and on the shop floor
The template Rolls-Royce use for the placements works very well from application, through the interview process and then through the internship. However, any issues that go beyond the limits of that template can test the system but contacting the Early Career HR team does tend to clear up most problems.
Rolls Royce provide on the job training seminars and provide a vast library of training available via the intranet for all employees.

The Culture
As I was placed in Coventry where there are very few interns I experienced no socialising with other interns. However, this is a rariety as most interns are placed in either Derby or Bristol where the social scene is very good between interns.
Petrol was cheap(ish!) and the canteen was very reasonable
I didn't live in Coventry so I can't comment , I commuted daily.
