The Role
Everyday was different and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.
At first it is more challenging because you don't really know what you are doing or sometimes what people are talking about but after a while you start to make a contribution and people start to see that.
Yes, my line manager's door is always open for help.
There is a lot of autonomy regarding how much and what work you take on, so it is defined by your choice and your line manager's expectations.
From the first couple of weeks the responsibility slowly builds as you become more knowledgeable, and you can always say you don't feel ready if something feels too much.
Working with others is the biggest thing, its very different in a workplace setting compared to a academic environment.
The Company
Friendly, plenty of chat when you want and plenty of quiet if you just want to get on.
There were a few problems at the start trying to get a start date, but overall I was well looked after.
Asking to go on training was never a problem.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Good, the placement sets you up very nicely to move into a graduate scheme role.
The Culture
Varying office to office but overall good, not that many events, but everyone is welcome when they are held.
In the close area quite cheap but in the nearest big town, more expensive.
Good! Its a student town so plenty of people my age.
Not really, just because of the nature of people living a long way from work often.
