Management Trainee Review

I don't really enjoy the work, all you do is write tickets and show customers around cars. There is so much driving-simply collecting and delivering cars, and the management is very disorganised meaning you work 50 hour weeks minimum plus overtime as things haven't been planned properly. Honestly, I dread going to work every morning.

Not at all. There is way too much talking behind peoples back's, always by managers talking about the interns like myself. It makes me very uncomfortable, especially when they are gossiping at the back of the room and you can hear them, and you can't trust anymore or feel they are ever being sincere as a result. I would not want to spend time with management outside of work hours. Of course, this is just my branch though it may not always be like this,

This is a tricky one, when I first started I was shadowing another intern s I wasn't really guided by management. Managers are not exactly happy to help but they will if you ask them, and if you do something wrong you will be in trouble-mostly by being shouted at and threatened. It depends on which manager, one of mine will shout and scream at you, another is very laid back and another is just patronising but won't be aggressive. We have recently been given responsibilities, but there is not a single second in the day to complete them at work as we are constantly picking up cars or customers, and our branch is exceptionally busy 24/7. My manager is always asking what I've done, but won't let me have breaks in the day to complete this work and suggests I should do it at home. For me this is impossible seeing as we work 7:30am-7:30pm everyday with no breaks and I think it is then a bit cheeky to request that I do their job for them in my very little free time. I do not think I am given enough support and guidance by my managers.

This is an interesting question, as the branch I work in is ridiculously busy 24/7, so I'm always doing something but its something hat I've done 1000 times before, so I'm busy but bored if that makes sense because I never do anything new-the work is very repetitive with again a LOT of driving. I would hazard a guess that everyday out of a 12 hour day I would spend about 5 of them driving cars around. In my opinion this is not what I signed up for nor was I aware of before I started the internship. The job is very stressful and frustrating which was too much for me and lead to sickness.

You are very much one of the team in the placement but its not individual responsibility, its just the same thing as all the other Management Trainees are doing so pretty much all you do is serve customers by entering their details and showing them around cars and driving around. I mentioned above I was given responsibility but you don't get any spare time to do it, so for me I would not want to use my little spare time at home doing work that could have been done in work hours which the manger should have done. I don't think its fair to be asked to do it at home when you've just worked a 12 hour day with a 30 min break as the managers didn't get their work done in the day so you have to stay later.

I don't think I have really gained any skills except customer service, but I had this from my previous job anyway. In fact, I think they even decreased as I was so drained and so busy all the time that I wasn't serving customers as exceptionally as I could as I wasn't in the right frame of mind. It has definitely showed me what skills I need as a manager to make my work force thrive and perform as best as possible, I basically have learnt what not to do from my experience at Enterprise. I received van training but I will not be driving vans in future so this was a waste of time, and they didn't tell me this before started the job and I think this is something that should have been mentioned beforehand as it can be quite overwhelming having never driven one before. The training in the first week was good, lunch was always provided and the HR team who ran it were great, I enjoyed this. But, then I would dread going back to my branch afterwards.

The atmosphere in my branch was always very tense as management are stressed and take out their frustrations on the MT's below them. It is very awkward and I did feel scared to ask questions at times. I feel that forms of communication from management is very patronising and this kind of management style does not make me feel happy or enthusiastic at work personally. I think everyone is always frustrated or stressed so it was just always a generally tense atmosphere.

The internship is set up well and you get to move branches and experience different work places, and it is organised well from a HR side of things. But, organisation in my branch was terrible meaning I never got the opportunity for personal development or time to fill in m folder so I don't think I was in the best situation. There Is help available if you need it, but then it would be awkward for you in the branch as it is very gossipy and I felt very uncomfortable after I asked for help from my manager one day and every single person in the office somehow knew about it.

I had four days of training in my first two weeks which was great and lunch was provided and it was a generally great atmosphere. I really liked the HR team who did it and I had a great time. It was pretty easy and straight forward, just some general learning prices for selling insurance etc. But, after I would dread going back to the branch. We also had van training to learn how to drive vans, but I didn't know we had to drive vans until I started the job and this is not something I am comfortable with so for me this is not a benefit to the job (the fact I had van training).

There is absolutely no chance that I will return to Enterprise once I have finished my degree, nor will I be recommending it to anyone.

There was no social scene at all as no one had any free time as we were always working, When there were opportunities to socialise outside of work, I never went as I found it awkward to be treated poorly at work then talk to someone on friendly level outside of work-I'm not this kind of fake person. Also, as we were working so much I liked to keep my personal life and my work life completely separate. I even tried to not think about work at all when at home.

Prices were great as it was a student area. Its just there is no time to socialise let alone have money to.

My area was great for nightlife but again there was absolutely no time as we were always too busy working. I would then be too tired to go out if I had a weekend off.

I have never been offered something to get involved in outside of work, again there is no time regardless.
