The Role
The month long internship was very well organised and there were lots of events for us all to get involved with. All of the other interns were friendly and always up for laugh!
Once i got to my team they were all very welcoming and made me feel at home. The work I did was always appreciated and feedback was always given in a nice manner, so that I was clear as to what i could improve.
I was paired up with a 'buddy' for the month and felt like we really got along. He helped me with everything I needed help with and always gave me top tips before hand. Other team members gave me jobs to do and instructions were always clear and easy to understand. I also had peer review sessions with partners and senior surveyors on the work I had done and feedback was always positive and constructive.
Each day usually had a clear plan and I often already knew what I would be doing before leaving the day before. My buddy was on annual leave for some of the placement, which meant that I hopped around the team helping out where I could. I always felt busy and even if i had no work to do my team always gave me useful documents and articles to read.
During the month I had to make several phone calls and meet different clients. I also conducted site visits where I had to measure and take photos.
I was placed within the Valuations team at Cushman & Wakefield and although only two months into my studies it has already helped me massively towards assignments and my understanding of the valuation module. I also developed my people skills and met many people I hope I will continue to stay in touch with.
The Company
Everyone in the office was really friendly and approachable. This made it easy for me to ask questions and feel at home. My 'buddy' always made sure I understood concepts and if i did not, he explained things for me.
The structure of the internship was one of the best things about it. There were several work drinks on the top floor with both fellow interns as well as full time staff. It was great to meet different people from different teams and areas.
At Cushmans we were always given opportunities to develop skills. In the first couple of weeks we had several Argus workshops, which meant that we could understand the software. We also had a group presentation which helped us to develop team work and organisation skills.

The overall aura and atmosphere that was present at C&W is something that is very appealing and I would love to work there. There is a good graduate programme and good prospects for progression from within the firm.
The Culture
All of the interns were always up for additional activities after work or at lunch time. We regularly went out for drinks and dinner. The number of interns was something that was also very nice. There seemed to be a good balance between us all, there were people from differing social backgrounds and there was a good split of boys and girls.
I am lucky enough to live within half an hour of central London, so for me it was easy financially. I had to pay for travel and that was about it. We were paid well for the internship and got paid half way through and all at once which made it easy for everyone. Drinks were regularly paid for and I even had a fully paid for day out to Ascot Races at the end.
Nightlife in London is always good. We were situated pretty central so it was easy to get anywhere. Drinks were usually split between the two offices in the City and the West End.
Cushmans have several sport teams to get involved with. I tried to get involved with the cricket team, but timings of matches did not work out sadly. I know that several others got involved with other teams such as netball. There were also networking events after work which were good to attend.
