The Role
I loved it. I really felt like part of the team and not just an extra member of staff. The team allowed me to see into the day to day runnings on what they do, and it was a really insightful experience into the world of banking which i never really knew about before
Yes i did. By the end of the placement i honestly felt as though i was a member of the team. The colleagues were helpful and supportive and really made sure I was learning new things each day whilst having fun
The management were incredibly helpful. They guided me around the office on my first day and walked me through all safety procedures for the building. They introduced me to different members of staff and also different teams that work close by. I was made to feel very welcome
I am naturally quite a productive person, and really enjoy being busy at work so if i felt as though i needed more things to do, I would ask my manager if she needed extra help with things. Although overall, i was usually kept busy on a day to day basis and was given my own project work to get involved with.
As mentioned previously, i was given my own project to start off with. This was down to me to take ownership and do some research and present back to the team at the end of my placement. So alongside the day to day activities that i would take part in, i would aim to work on this mini project in the evening or at times when i was free. This really made me feel like the team had trust in my and valued my research and feedback
I was fortunate enough to graduate with a 1st class Hons degree in business leadership and management, and i believe this was partially down to experiencing how a business is run on a day to day basis. Working in Barclays gave me an insight into how a large organisation is run, and allowed me to put the theoretical work learnt at university into practice.
The Company
Friendly, vibrant, buzzing atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be getting on with work and appeared productive
Very organised. I was kept in the loop for all activities and really liked the fact i knew i had someone to talk to if i had any issues or concerns.
I am now working full time in the bank. They have helped to sponsor my qualifications and have clearly invested a lot of time and effort into my career and personal development.

Very appealing, I plan to continue working for the company for the long term foreseeable future.
The Culture
Yes definitely, we arranged to go out for lunch and for dinners on multiple occasions to get to know one another, and share our experiences.
This was fine as I already lived in the area
I worked in the city center where the nightlife was always very lively, any day of the week
Yes, there were a number of sports teams set up for colleagues of barclays, such as football or netball. The workplace has its own gym which is great.
