The Role
Hard work at times, but a lot of fun was had within the office community and with great opportunities to see things that would not normally be considered with less than 2-3 years experience in the company.
Colleagues were asked before (and during) to consider the fact we were working within the company and to make sure we were treated with respect. In reality, this was unnecessary, as everyone that I worked with was respectful, engaging and treated me as part of their long-term team. I think because there is an opportunity of going forward with the company post-degree, they all consider you as worthy as themselves in applying with EY.
Allocated a buddy, a recent grad or new employee who could identify with any issues that I had. (Where's the nearest printer? / how does it work? etc etc). We were also allocated an 'intern manager' who looked after us with respect to achieving what we wanted to learn from the internship, and making sure that if we weren't getting enough experience with some element of work, we were introduced to that.
Quiet in the first week, just beginning to start up on various pieces of software. By the last week I was doing a lot of work for presentations / pitches with colleagues, using the experience I had learned over the previous weeks.
A lot more than i originally thought. Responsible with client data and the processing of it, as well as some important presentation documents.
Better than anything i've done at Uni, but it was what you made of the experience. You can have a quiet 6 weeks, or a really busy 6 weeks, depending on how much you yourself engage with your colleagues and managers.
The Company
There was a really healthy, fun office community, but when work was required, the heads went down. Weekly social events outside the office, as well as bigger ones on special occasions.
Very well organised from start to finish.
Took part in training programs, presentations, online exercises, 1 to 1 learning environments. A lot more than I expected.

Got a job with EY starting September 2012.
The Culture
Excellent social scene, weekly pub quizzes with the staff / interns (from all departments). As well as a good scene within the interns. We still meet up 4 months on.
Slightly expensive city, but not overly.
Lots of very nice pubs/bars.. a few nice clubs.
Football, pub, quizzes, seminars, lots going on.
