The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year with Pizza Express, meeting a variety of different people and making some friends for life, as well as developing myself as a person and a manager.
Throughout my year with Pizza Express I was able to meet a wide range of people of all different levels: I was treated with respect from day one and our opinions were valued, regarding feedback for the placement year.
The Support given was fantastic, I was able to develop and work with a range of different managers within the business: also I was able to experience days out with operation managers.
The great thing about this placement, was how different every day could be: throughout my year I supported the opening of new restaurants, spent days out with key figures within the company, as well assisting with the day to day running of a restaurant.
The amount of responsibility given is fantastic, I was trusted with everything that a restaurant manager would be responsible for: Managing the day to day running of the business. controlling finances, driving KPI'S, Recruitment, HR/ER issues and more.
At times its hard work but the skills I developed and learnt in my placement year were invaluable: its different to an office job but the skills I learnt have really helped me in my final year at university and beyond.
The Company
The atmosphere was great within the restaurant: you really get a sense of a family atmosphere within a restaurant: and as mentioned before everyday was different allowing you to really make the most out of every situation.
I took part in the placement on the first year it was run, the amount of things we were able to do were incredible: anything that we felt we needed or anything that may have needed changing was taken on board.
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Have been with them since I finished university I was the restaurant manager for a new opening and have recently moved to a new restaurant.
The Culture
Our group of undergraduates still see each other regularly and was great tp have somebody else to talk to throughout the placement.
Worked in a variety of different restaurants in my year
As much as you wanted to different levels of activities from going out with work colleagues, to football tournaments I have taken part in within the company. Even company away days.
