    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • No doubt one of the best experiences of my life so far!! Doing a placement at Lidl was extremely rewarding and insightful.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Managers and colleagues were always supportive and championed me throughout the scheme. In every module I completed, my opinions always felt like they mattered and contributed to the situation.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The guidance throughout my placement was fantastic. I loved the structured yet flexible training plan, I always knew who was there to support me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very! The nature of efficient retail is that you are always busy no matter what department you enter. It was a challenge but I loved every minute.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot!!! Accountability and responsibility play an important role in your placement. I was trusted to self-manage projects, train fellow staff members, present to senior management and be in charge of the daily working of a Lidl store.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definitely learnt through doing a placement that there are so many productive hours in the day!! I believe working in a hard-working environment aided me in my work ethic in my final year of studies!

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Always hard working. Efficient working was key something that lies in the culture of the company. All departments vary but I felt comfortable in all.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A training plan and guided folder was available, as well as weekly updates with our manager at Head office. Overall extremely well planned and executed placement.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to develop skills that I felt needed improving. I was able to book onto relevant training workshops throughout my placement.

  • I have secured a role on Lidl's International Management scheme, and very excited for my future ahead with the company.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, all placement students got on extremely well, we had regular meet ups organised by Lidl where we could share our experiences.

  • Relatively cheap.

  • Was great, I lived in a city so had everything around me
