About You
The scheme provided a brilliant introduction to both life as a City lawyer and more importantly the work and ethos at Baker McKenzie. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and I am now applying for a vacation scheme.
Baker McKenzie gave me real work shadowing and at every stage wanted to give us responsibilities like the trainees. This made us feel extremely welcome and valued and has encouraged me to apply.
The scheme provided the essential guidance for applying to a vacation scheme and during the event, constant support was offered to guide us through the scheme. After the event, I even received messages off trainees and emails from the team asking how the scheme was and any areas for improvement whilst extending their offer to help with any future application.
I found it particularly useful to undertake a mock presentation regarding a hypothetical business decision surround technology firms. This encouraged me to seek out further information and has allowed me to see how the very academically focused law degree can be used in the real world.
The Company
Timetables were given and the event was evenly structured between various activities.
Very fun! Everyone was extremely friendly including the students and members from the team and made me feel very welcome.
Talks were given by partners and other members of the team, thereby investing time into us and encouraged us to apply.
I was able to network with trainees and fee earners to establish what kind of work they do on a daily basis and understand the life as a lawyer at Baker McKenzie.
It was invaluable to be in the offices of one of the world's largest law firms and get to grips with how such a huge operation fits together in a commercial sense across the globe.
The guidance given and opportunities presented to us cemented my decision that I wish to become a City lawyer and specifically at Baker McKenzie.
Everything Else
Hotel and food was also paid for.
Lunches with trainees, networking drinks and a trip up the London Eye was extremely welcoming to meet the team and other students who I am now friends with for the future.
The London Eye and meal out were very friendly and open. I was able to make friends and really get to see the trainees as they are outside of the office.
Presentations were given to us but it was most valuable to ask the trainees what they thought and learn about their experiences!
Without doubt!
