The Role
The work placement was definitely enjoyable and incredibly eye opening, especially for a student with a technical background such as myself. A company as welcoming and exciting as National Grid was definitely a great place to start my career.
I felt valued from day one, upon joining the team you are seen as a normal member of the team.
I felt incredibly supported and received a huge amount of guidance especially when I asked for it.
I think that I had a good balance. I had a daily role to complete and also had project work which was enough to keep me busy and interested.
I was given a good amount of responsibility from the beginning and as I learnt and understood more I was able to take ownership of more and more.
All of the skills I built and the research I did for my project during the placement have already been a huge help at university. I was encouraged a lot to keep on top of my personal development plan and have continued to do so at uni.
The Company
