About You
The insight was very enjoyable. I felt like I learnt a lot about the firm and what a career as a trainee solicitor would entail. The programme was well planned and well structured to give us a good insight into the firm. The experience was also enhanced by the effort made to plan fun socials for us, allowing us to spend time with the other interns, trainees and Grad Recruitment in a more informal setting.
I felt like everyone made a big effort to come and speak to me. People from several different departments within Baker McKenzie took the time out of their day to tell us about what they do. And they were happy to answer all our questions. The atmosphere at Baker McKenzie was incredibly friendly.
I received a lot of guidance and support during the insight. Trainees were incredibly helpful in the departments and were always happy to point me in the right direction if I was struggling with a task. I was given two trainee buddies and two Associate Supervisors during my insight who provided me with a lot of support, and gave me some invaluable advice about embarking on my career as a solicitor.
I learnt a lot about what the daily tasks of a trainee solicitor at Baker McKenzie involved. I developed skills in time management and legal research during my insight, which I hope to continue to build on in my career.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. Everything was very well planned. There was a good mix between social events, talks about the firm, and actually getting to spend some time in the departments.
Really great atmosphere during the insight. Everyone I met was very friendly,
The firm organised skills sessions to help our personal development during the insight. This included training in legal research and training in giving presentations. I learnt a lot from these sessions. We also took part in a mock client presentation, and we were given extensive feedback on our performance, thus ensuring our continuous development.
I thought that the tasks we were given when in departments were a good indication of what life as a trainee solicitor would be like.
The insight gave me a very good understanding of the company culture. I gained this understanding from meeting the employees of Baker McKenzie, observing how they go about completing their work and how they conduct themselves. I was completely enthused by the friendly culture at Baker Mckenzie which was evident in everyone who worked there.
The insight was invaluable in confirming my aspirations to become a commercial solicitor.
Everything Else
I was well paid for this insight
We were given the opportunity to network with employees across the firm, from trainees to partners in a range of departments. We had a lunch with the corporate team, and we also had the opportunity to have lunch with the managing committee of Baker McKenzie London. This was an invaluable experience to ask questions of the most senior members of the London office.
The networking events were very good; they were both informative and enjoyable.
Yes we were given a lot of information about Pro Bono. We also found out about the different societies and sports teams within the firm.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend.
