    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at HPE, I was surrounded by helpful people and he tasks I performed throughout the year interested me.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Half and half, I felt that some people valued me and some people didn't but this will happen in any business.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • When I needed support I would request it and it was given to me. My boss and supervisors actually wanted me to perform tasks my own way. I received a lot of support in networking for the graduate scheme and took on a lot of career advice.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Enough to fill out a 9-4/5 day but not enough to be stressed. Some days were very quiet.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Some projects I received were quite important and brought value to the business, others were quiet low level tasks like data entry but this is expected as an intern

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A lot. The routine from placement year will be applied to my dissertation. 9-5 days. Excel skills will be applied. Confidence and Professional behavior will be addressed towards my final year.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very corporate, stressed at end of Quarters due to the sales environment and numbers to hit.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I did feel it wasn't incredibly organised, some interns were left to find their own work throughout the year and some interns received excellent placements. It all kind of depended on what team you were in which isn't fair.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Employees would invest training and development into you if you applied yourself and requested it. You wouldn't receive it for no reason.

    4/5
