The Role
Great work environment - definitely a highly valued 6-week internship!
Everyone at the firm was so friendly and welcoming - felt like part of the team instantly.
My counsellor made an effort to keep in touch throughout the internship and sorted out any issues that I had during my time at the firm.
Days were varied, with some quieter days in the office. However, I did also spend a lot of time on client sites, working away from the office.
Obviously I had responsibility for my own work, however in terms of the whole audit process, there was limited responsibility that could've have been bestowed upon an intern.
The skills that I developed during the internship will most definitely be of value - especially as I have accepted the graduate position at the firm!
The Company
The office was quite quiet as most people were generally working hard. However, people are more than willing to help if you have any problems.
The internship was generally very well organised. We started with an induction for the first week and then began working in the office after that. Each intern was booked on separate jobs and we all had calendars that we could check to see how our time would be spent during the internship. On our last day in the office, we had to give a presentation, which we had used any downtime available, to prepare.
As an intern, I think that the firm wants to take you on to their graduate scheme. They make you do the same type of work that a first year might do, to give you a real taste of what may be to come if you are offered the full time job.
Company Parties/Events
I was offered the graduate role on the Tuesday after I had finished.
The Culture
Many of the interns went out for after work drinks and met up with each other even after the internship had ended.
