The Role
I didn't enjoy it. I didn't really feel trained or equipped to handle the workload, I could tell I annoyed the majority of my colleagues, customers didn't like me and I was barely supported.
Most of them were polite to me, but a particular girl I worked with clearly didn't like me and stopped me enjoying a lot of my shifts.
I literally never met my manager personally and I don't think I had a supervisor.
Fairly busy, it was over Christmas.
A lot, I was expected to act just like those who had years more experience than me.
Not at all.
The Company
It was alright mostly, but the people who were unpleasant made for a bad atmosphere for me personally.
It was well-intentioned. We recieved one days training which happened in a group and definitely was not enough. Then we were thrown in the deep end, where people supported us when they could, but they were busy doing their own work, Being able to shadow someone else or have somebody stand specifically beside me and supervise me would've been miles better. I found it really hard and eventually just felt rubbish asking people for help, as they grew increasingly irritable with me.
Not at all.
I didn't get anything and I have no idea what progression was available.
The Culture
Some people were lovely, supportive, encouraging, affectionate, maternal even. Others were very cold and blatantly found having an inexperienced person among them annoying.
Middlesbrough is cheap and I know how to save money.
I love Middlesbrough.
No, I didn't get invited to the Christmas do. Or any kind of do.
