The Role
I enjoyed the placing, everyone at the firm was very welcoming and the work, while slightly dull gave me an insight into what people do every day in EY
Everyone was very welcoming and helped me out a lot whenever I needed anything. We also went on several social events which were enjoyable
The meetings with councillors were very useful to say how we were getting on and the buddy system helps a lot at the start of the scheme
Unfortunately it was the quiet season for audit so it was only to be expected that I wasn't going to be busy
I was involved on a few interesting audits outside of the company where I was able to interact with clients and do things unassisted but there was always someone there in case something went wrong
The things I learnt about asset management and audit are now helping in my masters degree of economics and finance and I learnt about how to work in a business environment which should come in very handy in the future
The Company
Everyone was very nice but it was always very quiet and it wasn't wholly inducive to discussion over issues
It was set up very well so we all got to know each other before the placement started and I was told what I was to be doing well before I was supposed to be doing. The only criticism I have is that there wasn't much to do at times
They gave us online tests to do and ensured we knew enough about what we were doing before we actually started
Company Parties/Events
I'm starting in London next August
The Culture
We had a few nights out and we became good friends by the end of the placement
If you knew where to go it was fine
Edinburgh's always a good night out
There were a few extra perks but there weren't many sports clubs or many societies for me to get involved with
