The Role
I very much enjoyed my placement at EY. I found everyone to be very welcoming and my team was very supportive throughout my time at the organisation. This was a great development opportunity and I have developed many transferable skills that will benefit me in my future career. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.
I felt very well valued throughout my time at EY. My team went out of their way to ensure that I got the most out of the placement and trusted me to work on projects with some of the larger clients. The team welcomed my ideas and thoughts and I always felt confident enough to share.
I felt well supported throughout this placement at EY. During the first week, my line manager gave me a very comprehensive induction to the organisation and the work that I would be completing over the next couple of months. We had a weekly meeting where we would discuss my work as well as future opportunities and career progression.
Throughout the internship at EY, I remained busy on a day to day basis, although I never felt overwhelmed by the work I was given. I was given responsibility from day one and therefore I always had work to be getting on with, especially when working on client projects. My typical working hours were 8:30 am – 6:30 pm.
From day one, I was given real responsibility. I tended to spend 3 – 4 days at client sites and I was always treated as a ‘real’ employee and I found that my opinions were always valued by the clients, as well as other members of my team. I was expected to lead on a number of key deliverables and the responsibility I was given allowed me to demonstrate my ability.
Throughout my time at EY, I found there to be a strong focus on the personal development of the intern cohort, which has meant that I have developed a range of skills that will benefit me in the future. Key skills developed included communication skills, presentation skills and analytical skills. Furthermore, I greatly improved in confidence during my time spent here.
The Company
I found there to be a great general atmosphere at EY and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised as I did not expect it to be as fun as it was! My team was really chatty and everyone was willing to have fun whilst at the same time remaining professional.
Really well organised internship overall! I had a steady stream of communication from the recruitment team in the run up to the placement beginning, which ensured that I arrived well prepared. Throughout the internship, we had a number of training sessions organised, which ensured we got the most out of the programme.
Felt well invested in throughout!
Company Parties/Events
Really great employment prospects at EY! The internship programme is a direct route onto the graduate programme and if you work hard and demonstrate your ability, then it is quite likely you will be offered a place on the grad scheme! There are lots of opportunities to explore different areas of the business and discover where you best fit.
The Culture
Great social scene on this internship! As interns, we really bonded well as a group, so we would very often go for drinks after work or socialize on the weekends. Furthermore, my team was social and I went for lunch and dinner with them on several occasions, which was an enjoyable experience!
I was based in the Cambridge office and I was quite shocked at how expensive Cambridge is as a city. The rent was high and this was mainly where my salary was spent! Cost of socializing is also relatively high, however you do discover the more affordable places to go after spending some time in the city!
Due to the high number of students in the city, there is a good nightlife!
Lots!
