The Role
I really enjoyed my daily work and tasks, especially the increasing amount of trust and responsibility I received from my colleagues and supervisor.
I felt immensely well valued and treated by my colleagues who would entrust me with some of their most urgent and attention pending cases.
My manager/ supervisor did support me greatly in my daily work, however, I felt a lack of general guidance when it came to acquiring specific skills, learning and developmnt or long term plans.
I was rather busy throughout the day, making sure that I met customer and/ or internal deadlines and finish my pending tasks at the highest speed possible.
As mentioned earlier, one of the biggest advantages of my internship was the level of trust which was shown to me as an intern.
I cannot say that the skills I developed would assist me in my degree, but perhaps to some extent will help me in my future career. Nevertheless, I believe that most of the skills I have acquired are rather Verizon-specific and cannot be widely applied.
The Company
The office environment itself was rather blant, as there is a high amount of people who prefer to work from home and the average age of the workers is also rather high. Moreover, people who are in the office often times are more focused on work than personal interaction.
It was extremely well-organized, with the internship objective and tasks clearly provided to me from early on.
Verizon has a very broad online training resoure: Vzlearn, which contains information on a wide range of subjects and skills.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Working from home
Extremely appealing and I look forward to exploring further opportunities at different locations within Verizon.
The Culture
Yes, my fellow intern and I established a very enjoyable relationship and team spirit.
Cost of living and socializing in central Frankfurt is one of the highest in Germany.
Scattered throughout Frankfurt, there are certain areas which contain multiple bars and restaurants.
Not so many opportunities.
