    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A great balance between some extremely interesting work with a high degree of exposure, where I had a great deal of responsibility for someone as inexperienced as me, and the social events that had been arranged.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I could see where the work I completed fitted into my colleagues' actual projects and they made it known to me the importance of the work I had completed for them.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My 'buddy' assigned at the beginning of the internship was particularly helpful in providing me with support and guidance, as were the other colleagues for whom I completed work.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Even though the work I had occupied me for a few days per project, at no point did I feel that I had too much on and was never feeling as though I was struggling to cope. The internship had an excellent balance in terms of the amount of work I had.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • For someone with as little experience as me, I felt there was very little extra Ernst & Young could have done by way of giving me more to do or more high-level work to do.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I'm hoping to further my development at Ernst & Young itself!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very lively and extremely easy to become integrated into

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Before the internship started, we had been given a very comprehensive introduction pack from Graduate Recruitment at Ernst & Young and at no point was I confused about any of the arrangements.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm made sure that throughout the internship, I was absorbing as much information as possible to make the experience as worthwhile as possible. Whilst on a monetary level there may not have ben much in the way of investing in my personal training and development, it was an internship that I was completing, as opposed to a full-time graduate role. My colleagues did ivnest a lot of time in me however, ensuring that any loose ends or gaps in knowledge were quickly filled.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Extremey appealing. I can definitely see myself at the firm for a long time.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Of the people from the Leeds and Manchester offices, we were very active socially and arranged a couple of events where we were able to meet again after having met each other during the induction at Liverpool. Subsequently, I have kept in touch with 3 of the interns from my office. Even at the offices, regardless of title, there was an excellent social scene amongst the colleagues, wih events ranging from pub gatherings to football matches.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Leeds was extremely cheap and as a place to live, it was very easy to get around for socialising

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Because of the lack of students, none of the clubs had nights out but the bars in the city centre still provided a very good experience.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A number of the colleagues pitched a number of activities they were involved in, such as football and charity fundraising, and they were very open to all of the interns joining in.

    5/5
