The Role
I really enjoyed it, as I was able to gain an insight into such an enormous and exiting business like the BMW Group. Seeing how the great complexity is managed is really impressive.
It depends. Some of them were really nice and seemed to look at me as a member of their team. However, for others I probably was just "the intern".
Compared to other interns in other departments support and guidance were rather low. I think with more guidance I could have done a lot more for the company.
Not as busy as I wished I would be. For me, not having work to do is probably the worst thing. Therefore, I kept on asking for new projects and tasks, but it seems like I completed them sooner than expected, which left me with not too much to do. Of course there were some busy days and weeks as well.
Actually quite a lot. One project somehow turned out to be (unofficially) owned by myself. Once it was finished to everybody's satisfaction, it was a very pleasant feeling.
in terms of my studies it wasn't that much I can take from the placement. However, with regards to organising (myself), dealing with lots of different parties etc. it was a very good experience. So called soft skills were developed to a high extent.
The Company
Depending on what shift was working. In general I'd say it was rather professional, but the associates who were working shift, seemed to be much closer to each other than to the rest of the team.
As mentioned before I wasn't given that many tasks I'd whished. Unlike other departments I felt like there is a lack of well prepared roles and tasks for my role as an intern.
To be honest, there was not much of an investment with regards to that. But I don't think it was necessary, since personal development comes with your tasks and as I said before, I think I developed quite well in these terms.

Difficult to say. But doing an internship or placement definitely increases the chances to work for this company, since a lot of recruiting seems to be done by referrals.
The Culture
Yes very good. There are loads of other students. Every Thursday night we met in a pub and spent some time together. Also they're are usually the ones that become really good friends. Especially if you are from another country and don't know anybody.
The area of Oxford is well known to be one of the most expensive places in the UK. Therefore it wasn't a suprise, that costs were quite high.
Could be better in terms of clubs. But the pub culture is just amazing.
Yes. Almost every intern went on several roadtrips with othe interns. Loads of opportunities in the city centre as well. Also, London is jsut a 90 minute drive, which gives you another million of opportunites.
