The Role
It was a great experience where I learnt business skills very quickly. The atmosphere at the company was really friendly and welcoming.
My team made me feel at home straight away and I felt like I slotted in without any problems. My colleagues would even come to me for advice on parts of their projects. My colleagues (and the company) were very supportive and answered any questions I had.
My Line Manager gave very good feedback on my work and gave me things to work on to progress.
I was given a lot of projects to work on so I pretty much always occupied or could always find something to help on if I felt I wasn't doing anything.
Some of my projects have left a real mark on the company and I am proud to have been allowed to show my skills in this way.
The way in which my projects were given to me and left for me to work on meant that I was able to develop skills such as prioritising and project management that will help me in my final year at University as well as at any career I undertake.
The Company
With the open plan work floor it felt like there were no physical barriers between departments or even to some extent the senior leaders! The company felt very integrated and people would come around and talk to you rather than just send an e-mail.
Although I wasn't given much help with relocating near the office and sorting out travel as well as setting up my office technology, my projects, days out and organised experiences were well organised.
My colleagues were very willing to help me learn anything and I was given opportunities to develop in through my projects as well as seeing many inside parts of the business. What would make it even better is if, as a summer placement, you could access perhaps some of the online learning system modules too.

I have been fast-tracked to the final stage assessment centre for the company's graduate scheme
The Culture
I went out to dinner and lunch with a few of my fellow placement students. My team were very sociable too!
It is quite an expensive area, but if you venture further into London it was cheaper, which was fine. Plus you are earning so are able to spend a bit more on socialising!
Nightlife in Leatherhead isn't very sociable, but the connections into London are very quick and cheap.
With the gym there were many activities on offer and gym membership was free!
