The Role
I didn't really enjoy it at the start because I quickly realised that I wasn't doing the job that I had applied for. Towards the end of the placement it got much better as I had managed to carve out my own niche within the team and developed some good working relationships.
I worked alongside some good people who were happy to give me the time and energy to help me learn.
My line manager was quite laid back.
On some days I was really busy and on others I had to find my own work to do.
Work would be allocated to each team member at the regular team meetings, so I would be responsible for what I had been allocated.
The placement year will not help me directly with my degree studies but it was a good year of general work experience.
The Company
The atmosphere was OK, some people were nicer than others.
There wasn't a great deal of structure to my placement year.
I was able to attend a number of training courses outside of the office including Time Management and Writing as well as computer based training.
Working from home
I have been asked to contact them once I graduate.
The Culture
A few events were organised but there wasn't much going on.
It is cheaper than living and working in a major city.
You would need to travel to Birmingham, Coventry or Leicester for decent nightlife.
There were no activities outside of work.
