The Role
I really enjoyed my internship in the Change Management Team. I had lots of exposure to different areas of the bank. The support of my manager was invaluable, she was very supportive and pushed me to take more responsibility. The downside was that the things in banks move very slowly, so there were days I was really bored.
My colleagues were brilliant, very supportive. Which I cannot say about the fellow grads, they felt like they came for holidays, they did not respect the jobs they were given, have not replied to emails, the recruitment process was really bad.
My manager was really supportive, she scheduled calls with me every Friday to make sure I am ok.
I was moderately busy, I managed to have time to do my job, have lunch and also some free time to write down my thoughts on what I am doing.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility, including the management meeting.
I understood more of what I want to do in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere was very friendly. We had lunches together, my manager was great, she would send me on some additional training and allowed me to organise meetings with senior people.
It was quite badly organised because people were scattered across UK so it was hard to work together on grad projects.
I have no opinion on that because we did not have any personal training.
I decided to reject the graduate offer and seek other employment as I could not see future there. But I imagine some other people may be more inclined to work in the bank.
The Culture
We were staying in student halls all together so it was fun, but otherwise no.
It was in Cardiff, so it was not too bad.
Parties every Friday/ Saturday.
Not really.
